Update on the future for Exeter Cultural Partnership

Dear Exeter Cultural Partnership members,

The following is an update on current developments and plans for the future of the partnership.  Jay Milling, Chair of ECP since 2014 has stepped down and everyone in Exeter Cultural Partnership will want to extend their appreciation to Jay for all his hard work over the last few years. On a personal note, I also want to express how Jay has been very supportive and how much I have enjoyed working with him.

I am pleased to let you know that Nikki Sved, Artistic Director of Theatre Alibi was elected as Interim Chair by ECP Steering Group members at the latest meeting on 17 July. Nikki will remain in role until a Governance Review has been conducted over the next few months.

The Governance Review will be put out to tender shortly and the brief for this work will be posted here. It is intended that this will set the plans for a more robust model of governance for ECP, provide a framework for recruiting a new Chair and the process for improving representation and diversity.

My role as Culture Director concludes at the end of September 2017 when the current funding arrangements also end. In planning for the future it is intended to recruit a new Manager for ECP, as part of the next phase of development.

Beyond mid-October, the University of Exeter may continue to host the post for ECP, working closely with the City Council and supporting stakeholders. Increased funding from the University and City Council, and new funding from the Exeter Business Improvement District (BID) and Exeter College will give additional capacity to the partnership 2017-20.

As part of this, the University has applied on behalf of ECP to Arts Council England and the decision on that is due in mid-October. The outcome of this bid will inform future delivery.

More details will be shared in due course.
