Engaging, empowering, energising culture in Exeter

Spring update from Exeter Cultural Partnership

It’s the first of March. According to the Met Office that makes it meteorological spring...so an update is called for. A lot has been happening. Just a few things to keep an eye out for...

Creative Apprenticeships and the cultural sector: As mentioned in a previous blog, work is under way to support the culture sector’s engagement with the new national programme of Apprenticeships.  Exeter & Heart of Devon Employment & Skills Board (EHOD ESB), the City Council, Exeter College and Exeter Cultural Partnership have been working together to see how to support organisations which may want to act as hosts for apprentices, and individuals who may want to sign up to receive training as an apprentice.  To better understand what organisations and potential apprentices want, two surveys have been running for the past month.  These continue until 7 March 2017 and will inform the next steps. EHOD ESB will analyse the results and share the findings in the coming weeks.

Visit Exeter’s new branding will go live at the end of this month and will increase the promotion of the city’s cultural and creative offer.  In agreement with the Arts Council, ECP is investing in Visit Exeter to support this City Council-led initiative. The new improved Visit Exeter will be launched on 29 March.  More details will be issued soon.

Seasonal Culture launches continue during this year.  The next will be at Exeter Library on 20 April. An open invitation will be posted here and via Twitter nearer the time.

Exeter’s ‘Commissioning Guidelines for Public Art’ first published by Exeter City Council in 2003 are being reviewed and updated.  ECP and the City Council have asked the original author, Diana Hatton to update this guidance in consultation with partners including Exeter Visual Arts Forum, Spacex, Exeter School of Art and the University. The completion date is May 2017.

More updates will be posted here and via ECP's twitter feed @ExeterCultural

Best wishes

Martin
