Engaging, empowering, energising culture in Exeter

Exeter City Council is looking for an Arts & Events Manager

Culture in Exeter is thriving – but the ambition of the city means it is yearning for more.

Providing ‘good things to see and do’ for residents and visitors is at the heart of Exeter City Council, its priorities and aspirations.

From Radio 1’s Big Weekend over two days with 50,000 people, to hosting city wide events as part of the Rugby World Cup, Exeter punches above its weight.

Now we are looking for a talented arts and events expert to take things to another level.

The Arts and Events Manager will enhance Exeter’s role as a regional cultural capital and deliver world class projects, together with nurturing and supporting arts organisations and professionals in Exeter.

This permanent post requires a collaborator who is able to demonstrate experience in that field, with an excellent level of knowledge and understanding at local, regional and national levels. You will work as part of the Communications & Marketing team where culture sits and, as such, possess excellent communication and networking skills with a can-do attitude.

You will be comfortable helping to set out the pace and vision of concept festivals, such as Lost Weekend, and understand how and why culture is so important to a city. You’ll help us to grow Exeter Cultural Partnership, collaboration across our organisation, the artistic community, and support key events.

You’ll have a good understanding of how funding works, and how to get the best out of budgets to truly deliver the exceptional.

You will also be responsible for management of a host of projects and initiatives, requiring detailed event management plans, risk assessments and knowledge of licensing and health and safety legislation together with associated budgets and reports.

If you are looking for a challenging but rewarding role to make your own, where your drive and ambition for arts and events matches that of the council – we’d love you to get in touch.
