Engaging, empowering, energising culture in Exeter

awe will be a seven-day event of visual, installation and time-based art in the city. It takes place from 9th-15th May in 2016.

We are currently compiling the programme for the week.

awe’s mission is to widen access to and participation in the many and diverse forms of contemporary and traditional art making and exhibitions in Exeter. The intention of this event is to illustrate the scope of arts ecology that exists in our city. The cultural sector as a whole understands that collective working will help us ‘raise our game’ and this is an opportunity for those of us who are stakeholders in the visual arts to do so.
While the programme is being centred around existing activity (Sean Lynch at the Phoenix in conjunction with Spacex, Local Art Show at RAMM, Exeter Open Studios, MoCC, NOSE, etc) we are also encouraging people to think about aligning their existing activities to coincide with the week of events.

Please take some time to consider how you might like to be involved:
As an artist, you might like to be a part of the Open Studios. Now in its 10th year, it has been an opportunity for artists in the city to open their doors to the public and encourage engagement and commerce from the very site where work is being produced.

At £40 to participate, it's the cheapest it has been for many years. For this you get inclusion in the online searchable directory and printed brochure (run of about 20,000).

Solo artist exhibitions are the alternative, at £50 for inclusion.

awe is aiming to support artists without venues, both solo and Open Studios, to hook up with familiar and unusual spaces to show their work.
As an arts organisation, you will likely already have a programme in place. If not, there's still time!

As this event is about promoting all the arts activity in the city, it's going to be something that you'll want to be present in.

At £50 to participate, you benefit from our joined-up publicity and social media promotion, plus inclusion in the online searchable directory and printed brochure (run of about 20,000).

There are also in-kind relationships to be explored, such as cross-promotional activity, venue sharing, back-room services, equipment and materials sharing. Please get in touch for some support with this.
