Engaging, empowering, energising culture in Exeter

Calling all artists, curators and producers. The dates have been set and the diaries are open.

During 13-21 May 2017, Exeter is holding its second Art Week.

Working with a number of city venues and unusual spaces, partnering with cultural organisations, lining up funding and in-kind opportunities, building a multi-site marketing campaign and developing a series of promotional and supporting engagements that will stretch across the city and beyond, the team at Art Week Exeter CIC is waiting for your call.

Artists: share your latest work or pieces that you’ve been developing, open your own studio, your home, a local venue or a striking and unusual space. We’re here to support you to get the most out of your practice.

Curators: have you got a killer idea for a show? We’ll be on hand to amplify your call-out to artists, sourcing the kit and finding the right venue.

Producers: are you looking to host an international- or national-level artist in the city? What sort of help might you need to make it happen? We’re offering a heap of in-kind benefits that will make your funding bid sing.

Sponsors: we’re developing a blend of public and private finance that will sit well with your CSR or philanthropic aims, or just offer a fresh and engaging positive association for your company. We have opportunities to co-brand the whole event or selective aspects. We’re also fostering relationships (on a no-fee basis) directly with cultural producers to ensure ethical parity and a high quality of work that will make this event something you’ll be proud to be part of.

Volunteers: we’re hoping to pilot the new Cultural Volunteer initiative with Exeter Cultural Partnership, Visit Exeter and many of the city’s cultural organisations. Love culture and fancy getting close to the action? Want to help out with making the arts, sports and festivities in the city’s calendar really shine? We’ll be providing training, t-shirts and front-line action!

Our first engagement is a fundraising event with the brilliant Exeter SOUP on 30 November. Artists are invited to pitch ideas for a piece for which they require match funding. We provide the projector, laptop and PA, so all you need to bring as a pitching artist is a five-minute presentation on a flash drive. Audience members pay £5 (to include a local, seasonal soup) to grill the artist, Dragon’s Den-style, and cast their vote with an orange pom-pom (provided). Winner takes all. Bring your own drinks, and enjoy the social and after-show disco, dancing optional… https://www.eventbrite.com/e/art-soup-tickets-28603302247

In the pipeline: Art Car Boot, AWEsome Art Fair, Art Train, trails and tours, Art Bar and more.
